Racquetball Divisions
Knowledge of Rules: | Knows very few rules of the game. Probably not aware of the extreme importance of safety glasses. |
Play Frequency: | Has just begun to play, and uses the borrowed $5 club racquet... |
Training Regimen: | No training regimen. |
Backhand vs Forehand: | Poor forehand, no backhand, and will run around ball to hit what should have been a backhand with their forehand. |
Knowledge of Shots/Serves: | Just hits the ball. Is not aware of different shots and serves. |
Shot Accuracy: | Very inaccurate and inconsistent shots. Lookout! No telling where that shot is going! |
Strategy: | No strategy except to get to and hit the ball. Often thinks nailing his opponent on the backside is a legitimate strategy. |
Anticipation and Angles: | Does not anticipate the ball and has no idea where the ball is going on an angle/corner. |
Court Position: | Does not maintain any court positioning. |
Participation: | Doesn’t participate in club leagues or tournaments. |

Shot Accuracy: | Serves and shots are still inconsistent and frequently wind up in center court. |
Strategy: | Not much strategy except hit the ball hard! |
Anticipation and Angles: | Still having difficulty anticipating where ball will go. |
Court Position: | Becoming aware that center court is important, but not implementing well. |
Participation: | Beginning to participate in club leagues and pick-up matches. |

Shot Accuracy: | Hits the ball hard, but inaccurately. Occasionally gets a kill shot. |
Strategy: | Knows some basic strategy |
Anticipation and Angles: | Beginning to understand where the ball is going, but still chasing a lot down. |
Court Position: | Knows to stay in center court but often fails to do so. |
Participation: | Participates in club leagues and beginning to participate in tournaments. |

Shot Accuracy: | Chooses the correct shot/serve most of the time, accuracy is improving, but is still a little inconsistent. |
Strategy: | Understands strategy, but uses it inconsistently |
Anticipation and Angles: | Understands and reacts appropriately to most angles. Anticipates ball trajectory, but maybe not opponent intentions. |
Court Position: | Understands center court positioning, but doesn't maintain it consistently |
Participation: | Seeks tips from better players, lessons, and instructional camps. Participate in most club events, and some tournaments. |

Training Regimen: | Trains for racquetball and possibly doing racquetball specific fitness training off court. |
Backhand vs Forehand: | Both backhand and forehand shots are near equal. Can execute a lethal kill shot with either. |
Knowledge of Shots/Serves: | Has high level of knowledge of shots, serves, and strategy. |
Shot Accuracy: | Has a high percentage of executing most shots and no apparent weaknesses. Perfected the kill shot and now re-kills opponents' attempted kill shots. Passing shots are effective from all areas of the court and are used consistently throughout the game. |
Strategy: | Knows and executes offensive/defensive strategies. |
Anticipation and Angles: | Anticipates rather than chasing the ball. |
Court Position: | Knows and executes good court positioning and offensive/defensive strategies. |
Participation: | Can and probably does compete in sanctioned tournaments. May seek to participate in AARA Elite Camp and either has a coach or is seeking a coach. |

Strategy: | Strategy is used continuously and effectively. Develops and executes game plans. |
Anticipation and Angles: | Anticipates the ball, and the opponent's next move accurately. |
Court Position: | Center court position is maintained |
Participation: | Participates in tournaments frequently. |

Court Position: | Maintains perfect court positioning. |
Participation: | Competes in tournaments frequently, and is on the PRO tour. |
