Racquetball Club Next Steps

Getting Racquetball Started at Your Club

  1. Get Permission! – This is a conversation that your school or local club will welcome!
    • Speak to your rec center administrator, intramural director, or club manager and get permission. Find out if there is any required paperwork.
    • For a university you might need to find a faculty/staff person to serve as an adviser to the club.
    • Your school might even have some funds to help you get started.
    • Suggested officers for university clubs: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer. The rest hold the office of chief recruiter and coach to those who are new to the sport.
  2. Determine your regular weekly times/locations you plan to meet for meetings and playing
  3. Setup a challenge ladder or league and invite your friends to join!
  4. Recruit! – This will be an on going activity for you and all of your members. Tell them why they will love racquetball.
    • Put signs on all court doors, and any bulletin board you can find around campus inviting people to come to your weekly meetings / play times.
    • Setup a table at your school’s club fair. This is usually held at the beginning of the fall semester.
    • Find out if racquetball is offered as a class to satisfy a physical education requirement. Meet with the teacher and ask if you can speak to the class or if the teacher will at least pass out a flyer for you.
    • Have a brochure for your local club to hand out to new members who join the club.
    • Setup a Facebook group and post often about events and tournament/league results.
